Ernestina Malheiro
M.A. Learning & Technology
Founder, Resilience Champion, Educationalist
Speaking IN® was created by Laurin Mooney BSN MS. After reviewing hundreds of cases of workplace harm she saw the impact of employee silence and leaders’ not listening. This inspired her to innovate a science-based strategy to replace the flawed and failing “speak up” strategy. This training partnership merges their collective expertise in Human and Organizational Performance, Learning Science and Workplace Resilience. This unique combination supports both human and organizational well-being.
Ernestina is an educator and expert in workplace resilience with a 20-year focus on mental and emotional health. She combines brain science, learning science, and human and organizational performance science to help HR professionals and leaders build resilience for themselves and their teams. Her work centers on identifying workplace risks that can lead to psychological injury such as burnout, trauma and compassion fatigue.
Driven by her own experience with workplace psychological injury, Ernestina’s research revealed that resilience is shaped not just by individual traits but by the environments and people around us. She believes it’s time to shift the resilience conversation from “what’s wrong with you” to “what’s happened to you,” promoting workplaces grounded in curiosity, kindness, and compassion.
Ernestina has developed training programs across 40+ fields, covering topics like workplace resilience, psychological safety, trauma-informed practice, and Indigenous antiracism. Her mission is to support the growth of healthier, more resilient workplaces.
